I'm working on a project currently that will be using a couple of overhead doors and its my first experience working with them on a frame. I'm curious if there are any special considerations in using one of these on a frame. I've noticed that the spring mechanism seems to be installed above the header and in the same plane as the jambs. I'm mainly curious as to whether using an 8x12 as a header will entail any unusual detailing. Also, is there any special type of door that seems to work better with a timber frame? I know they have lo-pro spring models, but also rollers, and who knows what else.

This is what I used, the whole gable end opens 30' wide x 16'tall. Not your typical garage door. It gets rid of all the over head junk.
