I heard a rumor that the Guild is about to publish a design book with a dozen or so designs. If that is true, when will it be released?

I inquired about the book, and got a reply that it's at the printers now and should be available sometime in August.... with emphasis on the "should be"....

From an email I got a while ago:
The Guild office frequently gets requests over the phone or at events and workshops for timber frame plans. There is very little out there to recommend, so we have decided to solicit the designers in our membership for submissions to be published in a new Timber framers Guild Plan Book.
The book would contain 10-12 plans for small frames, from gazebos to garden sheds to very modest houses. Drawings would include frame plans, elevations, joinery details and a materials list. Architectural details would not be included except to illustrate floor plan options.
The purpose of the book is to encourage people to learn timber framing by tackling small, manageable practice projects, and also to demonstrate the range of framing options for those new to timber frame design. Thus we will be looking for a variety of projects, and hope to include at least two modest house frames. The Plan Book will be another valuable addition to the Guild's catalogue of publications.
Designers who contribute to the Plan Book will receive a listing with contact information, and we expect that this will lead to more opportunities for those whose plans are accepted. We anticipate the drawings will remain in the designer's original style, but will be reduced in size to fit the book format. This is not a contest, and we are hoping that designers have a suitable project already done that they can submit. However, submission does not guarantee inclusion in the final publication. Necessary caveats and notes will be added to the drawings releasing the designer from liability and advising the builder to satisfy engineering and code requirements of local building departments.
Finial book may or may not be as listed above.... things can change over time....

As yesterday was August 1st, I called the guild office to see if I could purchase the plan book. I got the answering machine and they just called me back saying it won't be in for two more weeks.... That's the latest news I got.....

I know this is the first set of plans that the guild has published. I don't know if you'd call it sanctioned designs or not. They are designs by many different timber frame designers. I don't know who they are until I get the book, but they will have all the contact info in there with each design so you can contact the designer if you need to have them modified for your use, or area. I believe they have been checked by an engineer or two for loads but I don't know what the limits are. Hopefully the will tell us in the book.
