I emailed it to your "profile" email address. Is that the address you wanted me to use? I sent you both a .dxf and a .dwg

Mark,
I downloaded the exploded view.
Don't know if this is how you usually do it or if this is just a quick sample.
Anyway. Your exploded view only has one group in it... which is the vertical post. If you aren't already using all groups...I think you would find it so very much faster to do your joinery and to explode the drawings if the individual pieces are individual groups. Just my .02.
One of the first drawings I did was one "without" a lot of groups. Its a nightmare to go back to it now and look at it compared to the ease and accuracy we get now. In fact aside from using it for a visual drawing/elevation I doubt its even functional as a frame drawing any longer.
BTW why do you leave the gap on top of your brace tenons going down into your mortises? Just curious..

I exploded everything but the post to mess around a bit after the drawing was "done". I do use groups now, but maybe not as much as I should. the gaps at the back of the brace mortises are from ontario barn framing, which the course follows...

That notch and gap gives it an interesting look.
Any idea why they did it that way?

Pegs: Are you asking why is there a gap in the beam or post where the brace joins each? Jim Rogers

Above the brace tenons theres a gap that runs all the way to the back of the mortise in the post.
The girder might just be for looks or size, but the brace gaps puzzle me.

Every time I teach a class, the issue of overcutting the brace mortises comes up... Ease of assembly, working with varied stock, braces being able to move around in the wind.... I can only make assumptions.
