I got on the forum this morning to see if any one has used any good fire and mold retardant products and I was shocked to read about the post on 8/3 by R.C. and the loss of that beautiful home you built. Very sorry to hear that. You've got a good attitude though.
I am building a post and beam barn that I am converting into our home. After framing with all of the timbers and looking at the amount of exposed wood the subject of fire protection is in my face every day. I have also have had some mold growth on some of the lumber.
I have been researching spray on non toxic fire retardant/ mold prevention products and I was wondering if anyone in the forum can reccomend any products especially ones that will still allow us to stain or finish the wood.

Thanks RL

I used Timbor on the inside of my wall cavities and sills when I gutted my 100yr old house. It claims to deter insects and mold. I paid $75 for a 5 gal bucket of powder (to be mixed with water and sprayed on) 4 years ago. The house never had insulation in the walls and I didn't replace the original cedar siding. If any moisture got into in the past, it would have dried pretty quickly. I figured the Timbor would help if a little bit of moisture got into the wall after it was full of insulation. It can't be used on exposed wood work though.
