Does anybody have experience with straw light clay infill or woodchip light clay infill. I am interested in the traditional 1/2 timber infill method, not the built out clay wrap as practiced by LaPorte.

I think the Fox Maple School of Traditional Building has had a course on woodchip clay infill in the past. greg

Fox Maple does have various examples of natural wall systems including woodchip light clay, but I would like to find someone who is living in a infill structure. I would like to know why we do not build exposed infill systems in this country. Is is because of our abundant wood, harsher climate or ignorance regarding earthen wall systems?

I am trying to figure out what type of walls would be good for a wet moist tropical area like Hawaii, where insulation is not an issue. Anyone used Wattle and Daub to enclose their Timber Frame? What are the pros and cons? Any information and thoughts are greatly appreciated.

note the way the walls are built in this frame from Costa Rica, with frame exposed. ("The frame was enclosed with a clay/coffee husk wall system.")
