I love his ingenious way of fastening the cable to the car... grin

I take it the youtube video is of a trbuchet? I can't see the videos, no high speed. Trebuchets are awesome!

Hi, Dave -
Ya, it's a retired, rich English guy with a lot of property and time to play. He built this 20 story trebechet with which he hucks flaming pianos and one small compact car. He shoots a hole in the windshield with his rifle in order to get the cable attached.
He is still not impressed with it, though....he wants to build one massive enough to throw a double decker bus!

My new hero. grin

Here is the begining of a tabletop trebuchet I built a couple of days ago. I need to make a better throwing arm and a sling. Also it will have a movable counterweight. I will use it to test the effects different counterweights, sling lengths, and throwing arm ratios have on the flight path before I start engineering the full size one.

Dave, that's a very cool thing to do with your spare time. Do you have any resources to build such a weapon? And do you have someplace in mind that you plan to siege? If I agree with your target I could participate smirk

I will be starting a logging job this winter, if I can find all the parts to my new, erector set skidder. There is a ton of really good oak on this job. Oak is cheap right now, especially stumpage. I also have access to a Wood Mizer. I hope to have timbers to start working this spring. I am still tying to get plans, however. I will be posting updates periodically at the Forestry Forum.

Dave that's great!!
I've been seriously wanting to dabble in the art of trebachet building for the last little while...
Maybe we should bring them to the western conference..?
Have a little toss-off...?
That would be sweet!

Why the hell is it forbidden for me to post in the general forum under general questions? Mierda del toro.

Board malfunctions once in a while. Log out and back in,. or try again tomorrow. Frustrating, I know, especially if you've taken some time to write a long reply to someone....

Why you likey timbafames?

I didn't used to have any spare time until this housing slow down so now I just sit around and worry and try and drum up more work..ugh.
Oh yeh...and contimplate and stradigize my next move once this house sells which is kinda fun but frustrating as well.

And I like TF cause it seems more enjoyable than stick framing. Seems much more satisfying....to me. Seems more permentent. Seems purdier. Warmer. More breath taking. More natural. More WOW factor built in.
Not to mention and best of all...there's no need to run to home depot for anything...loll.
