Eversince I joined this fine forum and found a local Tiimberframer (u know who u are grin), I've wanted to attend a workshop and learn the basics. Well, I got my crack at the basics of the craft this past weekend.
Thanks to Mark for taking the time to share the knowledge, welcoming us to his home and not getting pissed when I broke the mallet…..and the saw…..and cut that mortise on the wrong side..and….ok, best I shut up now… lol
Someone had asked recently where the real Timberframers are?… I know of @ least one....in Warsaw, ON
wink grin grin
anyways.. as pics tell the tale, here are some Tammy took over the weekend..

the layout process... two of us used square rule, three guys used snap line..

I think after the long layout process, everyone was eager to go for that first cut grin

then we got to use the cool tools, along with a hewing demo by Mark and Doug

THANKS Raff,
your enthusiam is appreciated, there's not too many students who would carry on with thier project in a cold shop as you did on saturday eve... you definitely do have the TF bug.
And I dunno Derek, I think framing is more difficult than farming, seems there is so much more to learn, so many angles still to figure out.
