Has anyone ever seen or heard of this?? I was told that they are toe pegs. Rafter to top plate connection had them, peg driven on an angle from the top through a short stub tenon in rafter. Some of the others were placed to reach the splines.
Posting these photos is giving me fits! Can anyone tell me how to get the photos in the post and not as a link?

To post a picture you need to have it hosted at a site where this forum can get access to it. At that site there is usually a line where you can copy the pictures location address to your computer's clipboard. Then in the regular reply window, not the quick reply window there is an icon for image placement. You click on this and it inserts two tags with square ended brackets around your image location address, like this {IMG}http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c14/Jim_Rogers/Raftersatpeak.jpg{/IMG}
but with square brackets so that it produces an image like this:

Hope that helps...

This is a photo test. The snapfish links in my first post also show the toe pegs.

almost there... just remove the [/img] from before and the [img] after the addy. You should only have one [img] before and one [/img] after the url

another issue you're having with those two pics is that silly snapfish pic address. It has to be .jpg image for the code to work, that one is not. I always recommend photobucket for sharing photos on line, they even put the [img] code together for you, all you do is copy and paste the links... super easy...

Is that oak "spline looking thingy" glued or pin nailed?

That spline had a 90 degree cut where it exited the post and dropped to the bottom of the beam. I think they were trying to reach the spline with that "toe peg"???

The first time I just breezed through the pictures. Then, Dereks post made me take a second look. Now that was a good laugh. Spline thingy and dynamite. Wow! BB, where did you find this? It looks like a panel screw on top of the rafter as well. Maybe some hot glue. Tim
