We have a 5,000 sq ft Historic Home in North carolina (Goldsboro)..This Home is in need of a front sill replacement..
We are looking for someone local to inspect the home and consult with us on the proper way to go about completing this project..And possibly may have you oversee the whole project..We are looking for someone who has references, and pictures of at least one two story project such as this that you have done yourself...We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, and takes pride in there work..

If you are the someone we are looking for, or know of someone please let us know....

Hi Michael:

Just to pry out a little more information about your home

Just how historic is it, for instance

-- is it rough timber framed,
--is the frame infilled with brick
--is the timberframe covered with brick or wood clappboarding
--what type of wood is it constructed out of
--is the front sill accessible

NH

The house was built in 1903...And has been added too at several different times over the years..The wood used to construct the house is as follows..the original structure is framed in oak and sided with pine lap siding.. The tops of the walls that we have seen are pegged together, but also nailed in many places..What caused our sill problem is that in 1950 the original porch decking was removed and replaced with concrete..The concrete settled and caused a water damming effect against the front of the home..The sills appear to be oak as they rotted from the inside out...This house is 5'000 sq ft heated and 2'500 sq ft unheated basement..The wrap-around porch has access under it and the sill is around 8 ft off the ground..And of course the concrete porch would have to be removed to do this project, and our hope is to replace it with a decking of original design..If I can figure out how to post a pic i will do so, but have no pics of the sill itself....Thank you for reading and replying to this..Our hope is to become more knoledgable.. The front sill is enclosed at this time...
