This may be a dumb question but how do you send a sketchup drawing to someone by E-mail? Do they need to have sketchup installed on their machine as well in order to open/view the picture? Thanks

Yes, they need sketchup to look at a .skp file. You can also export 2D images as .gif or .jpg files, and mail those, but they won't be able to move around in it. Or, you can export an animation as a .avi file. This will give them a 3D tour but still won't let them move around on their own. If you own the pro version, I think you can eport a .vrml file, which will let them move around using their web browser. CB.

From SketchUp you can create a 3D pdf, using RPS 3D pdf from Render Plus http://wiki.renderplus.com/index.php?title=RPS_3D_PDF

or export a 3D.html file using Hypercosm
http://www.hypercosm.com/

both of these make pretty neat interactive 3D models you can email.

you can see a sample of both kinds on my Azumaya Plans page, below those first 4 thumbnails. I like the 3D.html ones better, but you will be asked to go download the viewer and some folks don't like doing that.

Thanks Clark and Joe but I have no idea what you're talking about. Export??? Basically I want to send a customer a drawing I did so they can see what I have in mind. They don't need to orbit or anything, just look at what I sent them. Is there a really simple way to do that? (remember, I just tighten bolts for a living) Thanks again

Orbit and zoom until you have a nice view on the screen. Then, from the main menu, select File | Export | 2D Graphic. That will create a jpg of what's currently on the screen. You can adjust the resolution by using the options button on the save dialog that appears. CB.

Thanks Clark. I'll try that.
