Can you saw a king size headboard in half and put it back together so that it will hold? We bought a bed that is 54x83x87 54 being the H of the headboard and it simply will not fit up the stairs. It is wooden and italian made so we don't want to ruin it, but also do not want to downgrade to a smaller headboard.

You could avoid cutting it altogether - rig it in through a window after you remove both sections.

Can you cut the legs down an inch at a time to get it up the stairs? Must be a corner in the stairway or an awfully steep set of stairs?

Can you place the mattress and foundation in that room?
