Hi guys, I purchased from my local sawmill (in Quebec, Canada) eastern white pine beams for building my house in the next weeks. The wood has been fell in fall 2004, so it is pretty green. I did all the preparation on the beams and all the pieces are set in bundles outside, waiting for my contractor to begin the raising. To prevent end checking, I sealed the ends with "log end sealer" purchased at "lee valley" a popular woodworkers tools and stuff supplier in Canada.
My problem is: droplets of sticky sap are getting out of the wood (by the sides, not the ends), and I'm affraid it will continue so until I apply something to prevent this. Maybe it is drying too quickly? What should I do? I spent so much time on that work, I dont want to waste it. I read a little on wood finishes, but never found anything for that specific problem.
Thank you so much for helping me.
