Did a search and didn't / couldn't easily sort through the replies - so here is a quick trick - apologies if its been covered before:

In some cases use the scale tool to mirror objects in SketchUp - start moving in the direction you want the mirror to go - and type "-1". Press enter and you should have a mirror of the item.
