Has anyone done blind pegging?
I'm doing a pool side shelter where is no siding on the frame and I thought it would look cleaner if I pegged blind in some locations. Is this a bad idea?
I have not seen any examples of this in the books I have.

done plenty, where needed.
it might look odd though... to my eye.

pegging through tells the story of the structure.
blind works when it follows the logic of the joinery.

it works structurally, so long as the pieces are large enough and you get good penetration beyond the tenon... (assuming that pegs can take the loads).

if it is a pool structure, without siding - what are you doing for a connection to the fnd or deck? does it have a roof? is the joinery you've planned OK for tension and compression (assuming a roof and an uplift wind load)?

As it turned out, no blind pegs were required after all.
I never even considered wind uplift now that you mentioned it.
I would love to have you look at my drawing and point out opertunities for improvement.
Becouse of my limited experience I opted for the common rafter roof for it's simplicity. The 4x6 notched rafters are screwed to the plate and ridge beam.
