Not directly. One could do a screen capture on the pdf, paste into paint, save as a gif, and then import that into SU as a texture. Are you hoping to bring in a floor plan? Results would probably be unsatisfactory.

Hi Mark,

Its possible to open a pdf and save this as a fairly high quality *.jpg or *.psd which is then importable into Sketchup. These would be bitmap rather than vector files however 3D.pdf files can be created and viewed and so this type of *.pdf might not be as straightforward to import.

Can you give some idea as to what you are trying to achieve ?

Should be able to convert to jpg and then place in SketchUp. If you are trying to use as a floor plan you can then scale with the tape measure to known points in the jpg.

Its not entirely accurate... but can work. I've done this with site plans from satellite imagery and from rough sketch floor plans.

There are also some PDF / DXF conversion programs. Some of them have free 30 day trial periods... you could then import the dxf into the SKP.

I have a pdf floor plan and a couple of elevations that I'm trying to bring in, save myself the redo time.
I was looking at Adobe Reader, could not find any export buttons, I probably need acrobat?

What was the floor plan done it originally? Autocad? Would the original author consider converting it to SU for you? The free version will do that. CB.

I don't think you'll be able to export to JPG from Acrobat...

You can email it to me, I can open it in Photoshop and save it as a JPG if you want.

If you can find the original CAD file I'll be happy to convert it to SKP for you. I'd need a DWG or DXF.

And, do a search for PDF to DXF converter. They work OK on simple drawings.

Over here in Mac Land one could use the Preview.app to create a jpg from a pdf with the Save As command.
