My fathers well is about 1000 yards away and has some of the purest water you'ld ever want to drink. So I've got a half dozen used reagent grade water bottles that I've been refilling there continuously.

We've got iron (ferrous and bacterial), manganese and sulfur.
I wound up with a pair of filtration units, the first is 'maintanance free' and removes odors, the second filters the misc. dissolved metals, oxides and sediments then back flushes periodically. It will need new filter sands in about 5 years.
