The bandsaw is not the right tool for that particular job. way too heavy and awkward for simple small BM's

You need a circ saw that tilts to 60 deg and you can cut them as mo said -- on their backs. That is the only efficient way, whether you gang them or cut them individually.

This company (http://www.bigfootsaws.com/index.html) sells swing tables for skil and bosch wormdrive saws that tilt to 75 deg. If you need more depth, get their bigfoot kit and a swing table.

I would budget 10 min each for those and I would get the swing table instead of the bandsaw.

Would the aftermarket base for the Makita Beam saw give enough tilt to cut birds'
mouths? This is one of the reasons I got the base for my 16 5/16'inch Makita saw.
This new base gives a 60 degree tilt. Could this be of help.

the fence looks good, I dont know if i want to buy another saw though. I love the makita 10 1/4 inch saw. The fence only tilts 45 degrees, but overall its a solid saw. Today I bought a 10" CMT cross cut blade for it. i like how it has two locking bolts at either end of the fence. Does anyone know of a fence attachment that attaches to this saw? The guy at timbertools.com has a hitachi saw with custom fence that sits in a nice guide, but again, I dont wanna buy another circ saw. Maybe ill try my luck with the makita 10 1/4" and if it doesn't work, Ill get one of those attachments for a bosch. Thanx for the replies.
