Hi,

I have fitted a new nVidia GeForce card and notice that I get a grey screen when viewing high resolution *.avi (i.e above 640 x 480) movies created using Sketchup and viewing with Windows Media Player 11.

In trying to resolve this issue I tried experimenting using different codecs but have noticed that no matter which Codec is selected in Sketchup to make an *.avi file that Sketchup changes this to employ the Radius Cinepak codec (right click and check the properties of the file made).

Has anyone else noticed this anomaly and is there a way to make it produce videos using the other codecs ?

Regards

Ken Hume

Never seen that... but according to this page:

it seems the Radius Codec is preferred.

Cinepak Codec by Radius

This is the default codec for SketchUp. Although not as advanced as modern codecs, videos compressed using Cinepack will work reliably on any platform, play smoothly from CD-ROM, and will provide good file size compression. Cinepak is asymmetrical and lossy.

I've exported full and uncompressed, then changed things later in a video editing program as needed.
