We are STEP Vancouver Island. (Skilled Trades Employment Program) We work with companies serious about their future and who have put priority in hiring, training and retaining skilled trades people. We help those companies find exceptional people who are either currently involved in a skilled trade (certified journeyman, apprentice, or extensive experience), or are transitioning into the trades and are serious about making a skilled trade their long term career. We are not a placement service or an employment agency.

Currently we are looking for a number of individuals to fill a number of roles from laborer to journeyman carpenter, to work on an extensive timber restoration project on Vancouver Island. There are also other projects running concurently which will require some movement between tasks for some.

To be successful in one of these roles you must be; willing to work outdoors regardless of the conditions and enjoy being there, have a personality that allows you to be flexible and willing to listen, take direction, contribute to solutions as required. You must be keen to learn and work on exciting and innovative projects. You’ll need to enjoy working with others of different backgrounds, skills and levels of experience. This is not a role for person who likes to work alone, function on their own time line and look out for only themselves. Safety is an extremely high priority with these roles and you will be expected to demonstrate your awareness to job site issues, safety precautions etc.

- An interest in the environment and sustainability
