I have a Gransfors Bruks double bit throwing ax. It came with leather sheaths on each bit. I took off one sheath, and then drove the bit into a block of wood with the opposite sheath still on. The impact caused many of the rivets holding the sheath together to pull out. Those rivets were lightweight semi-tubular rivets and were weak. I found a much better replacement. I bought Uncle Mike's solid brass chicago screws. They come in black, brass, or silver finish. I added some medium strength loctite to the threads and voila! I did have to open the holes a little bit for the Chicago screws. I used a drill and bit.
