Hi all,
trying to gather some thoughts on an open porch attached to the front of a house. Ideally I will like to keep it fairly simple, but eloquent. I am wondering if just having the roof supported by a ledger at the ridge and the rafters will fall onto the plate supported by round cedar logs will be enough structurally. trying to forgo any tie beams from the plate to the house horizontally.
I am also trying to come up with a good way for the cedar logs to sit on the concrete tubes (embedded into a rock wall).
Thanks for any thoughts
(have drawings, just dont know how to post)

This is what I did 2 years ago.
This frame is separate from the house.

Hope this helps
