I sell cars. I hate selling cars.
I have 25 years in construction, divorced, custody of 3 kids and no work....except selling fecking cars. I'm in "what ever it takes" mode.
Since 2000 I built or participated in building about a dozen TF barns. I realized one thing.....I love it! It speaks to my soul. It's as old school as you can get without building with rocks.
I have had enough and I am opening my own business. It's called "The Great Connecticut Barn Company" Timber Frames (and other neat stuff).
In the past they were timber frames with common rafters....blech! My gig will be all TF. Dove tailed joists, tongue and fork rafters ....or something.
I live in an area with a good client base but I'll need some technical help.
Things like centers for 6x8 joists, rafter sizing and spacing. I have some designs but will have to do some skethcup work....lot's of it actually.
You can see some of my stuff at
www.shottalk.com/gallerythere's more "other neat stuff" than barns at the moment but I think my skill set will change that eventually.
Just wanted to vent a bit. All input is welcome.
Cheers!
Bob
