One option, if you have a 2 rail sawmill, is the Logosol Log molder/beam planer. It rolls on the tracks just like the saw head and passes over the beam. You can get straight knives, or shaped ones. The unit new is about $5,000. You can do about any typical width beam. I hope to get one.

or the very low tech version for around 200 grin
just add more bricks if you want to take off more than 1/32" per pass..haha
