We do everything we can to slow down the drying to reduce checking. We run a greenhouse fogger in the shop in the winter to try to keep the humidity up. A 55 gal drum of anchorseal lasts us a few years. We put it on any exposed end grain that does not show in the finished frame. As others have mentioned, you can't eliminate the checking, but if you can slow down the drying, you can reduce it.
We work primarily in softwoods: EWP, and DF.
Gabel's right: the only thing to stop twisting is to get the frame together before it happens. The exception is thinner stock, like brace stock. We do try to keep that at the bottom of a heavy stack until we need it.
