I don't really know where to post this cause I'm new here, but this is the frame I finished up this week from an old tobacco barn in Tenn. Thought it would introduce me some. I hope to learn from all of y'all and glad you're here.

To show a photo; you need to place them at a photo hosting site. Then copy the link of the photo at that site, and post the link here in the forum message box. Then the photo will show.

Whatever you do, have fun doing it!

hey the frame looks good, what will you do with this building, or it is for someone else?

Sweet!
That would make a nice shop.

This was a job for a friend who had never done timber framing, so I went to help him. Most of the wood was 100 year old poplar from a tobacco barn. The owner will use it as a barn for his equipment.

Hi Woodsman, welcome;

Interesting frame. I was wondering if the king posts interrupt the tie beams?

Are all of the walls going to be vertically boarded?

Jim

The kings do interrupt the ties. Yes, all of the walls will be vertically boarded. I only stayed for the frame raising, but will get more pics of the finish later. The way the kings worked like a keystone was amazing. When we were pounding in the summers near the center there absolutely no movement at all on the kings. We had to do it that way because the owner needed a clear span and we didn't hane long enough timbers. Even the ends had to have scarfs.
