Located in the Quebec Eastern Townships in the town of Dunham 5 miles from Vermont, a 50'x40' Barn was given to me to take down. The owner needed space to store his equipment and with the 6' high basement floor, he unfortunately did not want to invest the money to adapt it. I would personally restore it but it is not on my land. Since it is now in my hands, I feel responsible to honor the wood and the work that was put into it over 125-150 years ago. The frame is in great condition and has a second life in it as a 2 story house or a cathedral ceiling commercial building. The 50' beams and 40" beams are in 1 piece. The size of the beams are 8"x11". We believe it is a hemlock and Oak barn. Most of the beams are hand hewn. I am reaching out to timber framers who have clients to insure a second life for this frame and collaborate on dismantling it.
