What uses are there for old hand hewn beams? The joinery was sacrificed in places so they no longer form a frame, however, they are beautiful pieces of wood. Can the joints be reformed? Can they be used for repairs?

I know of at least one company in New England who is using these recycled beams in new houses. They are cutting new joints and using them in different parts of the frame.
They could also be used for repairs if the sizes where similar.
Another use, other than as a beam, is to re-mill them into flooring or other use boards and or planks. I've done that with older salvage previous milled beams, and it could be done with hewed beams as well. Jim

Whatever you do, have fun doing it!
