I'm trying to find some ornamental EPC in 12 gauge or heavier.

Simpson has the CCPC in a 7 gauge
http://www.strongtie.com/products/apg/classic.html

but don't have this ornamental type in an end post cap, for connecting 6x8 beams to 6x8 posts at the corners.

any ideas where else I could look for these besides Simpson?

I found http://www.uspconnectors.com/ but they don't have the ornamental type either.

By ornamental I mean they have the bolt holes, but not all the nail holes. Hope someone has a good lead for me!

Just to be clear, I'll have two 6x8 beams meeting in the corner at a 90* over 6x8 posts.

I did find the ECCLL , might work but one beam would have it's end exposed.

Howdy,

Why not cut a joint like this? Peg tenon, two screws plumb into half lap.

Well I'm trying to get away from doing any joinery (to save me alot of time), and also I need a hurricane proof corner connection because this 12' x 14' building is going down to the bahamas.

Send me the plans, I can cut that joint pretty quick. I've got the cypress too.

Hurricane Prone: I'd still do a stub tenon for a little lateral support (and help with assembly), half lap on top, embed a timberlinx in the post with a pin, run the all thread to the top of the half lap, washer, nut.

How are you holding the posts down? same concept.

Do you use sketchup Mo?

I'm not really set up for timberframe joinery, especially cutting that mortise. The half lap though is no problem.

this is how I usually do my corner connections, but that's when I use 6x8 posts and 4X beams.

was hoping for a connector recommendation but realize that's a bit hopeless on a timberframe forum :-)

Those timberlinx look interesting, but do you need absolutely need that drilling jig? Pretty pricy at almost $400.

how many of those would I need at each post/beam intersection, using the 6x8 timbers?

Joe, it wouldn't hurt to run your plans by a PE to get some help on things. It's another way to cya as well.
