I got tired of dealing with pictures and just loaded stuff onto U-tube. Simple to copy and past the link.

Howdy Fellas,

You have to have an independent picture hosting site. I use "Drop Shots". Its real easy to set up.

Then you simply upload the pictures to your new account. Select your picture. Right click. Get the image info that starts with "http:.....". Copy and then paste here with the insert image dialogue box.

Sounds convoluted, but its not.

Thanks Mo, I saw the train leave the station and had to walk to get where you are at...I can be slow sometimes for a relatively smart person...

Thanks for posting the pictures Jay! I was thinking with the king truss I would have to run purlins. Would that make things more complicated to tie in to the house? I am open to any design ideas or pictures I guess.

Please provide dimensions and measurements for the drawing. Purlins are possible but will have to be more of a freestanding structure with to bent assemblies. As stated before, I don't condone tie ins that get bolted to walls as an afterthought in design, it is not good craftsmanship IMO. and can lead to other challenges down the road. You can put in for masonry plinths of different types, just choose one. Below are some simple examples of what can be done.

Hey Yooperdirt, I am currently cutting a king post frame for a shelter over my deck. I live in Gladstone, MI. The jowled posts are 7 x 10 at the top cut down to 7 x 7 at the bottom. All the other timbers are 7 x 7. It will have an English tying joint and curved braces. I obtained the plans from Peter Hendricksen at Northhouse Folk School. Basic size is 10 x 12 feet. You may be able to find a frame to fit your needs on the Northhouse site under the timeberframing classes. If you would like to look at my frame, give me a call 906-399-4920. Good luck.
