SketchUp and LayOut were updated today to 2014 versions.
I know Clark has been hard at work updating the TF Rubies...

I haven't tested SketchUp yet, but I do have a couple of projects ongoing using LayOut. Several additions made it worth the free (if you paid for 2013) upgrade - auto page numbering, auto text, and the ability to have text labels (leaders) pick up component names from your model. This will speed up production, and shift my personal workflow just a bit...

More to come as I get into the changes.

Looks to me like most of the updates are for LayOut -- there is some kind of BIM compatibility with SketchUp 2014 but I don't really know how that works.

Looking forward to the LayOut improvements though.

Clark told me today he had already updated the Timber framing Rubies to be compatible for 2014. I was having some issues this morning, but once I installed the current versions from the extension warehouse, everything is working fine.

Looking forward to your thoughts Mike...

Well it has happened already, I've been sent a model created with 2014 that will not open with 8 -

While I find the BIM capability intriguing, I'm not sure I am ready to upgrade and commit to an eight hour trial until I know more about the features and advantages of the new version.

Do we know if their viewer will open this 2014 skp?

What I have done in the past is download the free 2014 version and keep my older version on my computer. Use the new version to open the new files and save as an older version. then open that file in my older pro version.

Or you could email it to me and I'll convert and send back to you.

From what I can tell the BIM stuff requires a separate BIM software to integrate with -- so it seems like it won't help me out too much.

Thanks Gabel

I thought I remembered the installed version morphing the last time I updated, and I was concerned I'd be left hanging with little but a disabled trial version, just for the need to review a single file.

If I can't work something out I just might lean on you.

SketchUp should install in a new folder / directory.

I have Pro8, Pro 2013, and Pro 2014 all installed on my machine.
