Hey Jim, hoping to get a 1.5" and 2" bit that will fit my swan boring machine. I see you have a variety of bits available but dont know which will be most appropriate. I am in NS,Canada..do you ship here?

What species are you working. Jim may have finer or courser threaded bits. Finer for harder woods and courser for softer woods like white pine. Spruce on the other hand can be tenacious and a finer bit may be useful.

We do ship to Canada.
Right now we only have one or two traditional 1 1/2" bits on hand. And they haven't been cleaned and sharpened.
We have some new 1 1/2" bits that others have bought and they do work in boring machines. They are the Bosch bits on the list.
Send me an email and I'll send you some info on buying some bits.

If you study the threads, you will find that the "fine" thread bits actually have two sets of threads, and they cut just as fast as a "coarse" thread bit. You can also measure the thicknesses of the chips with calipers, and they will be very close in thickness, verifying a comparable feed rate. I prefer the double threads, as they don't pull out as easily in a knot.

Thats interesting, Dave. I have not noticed this type of feed screw you mention. The few I have clearly cut a thinner chip and take longer to turn through the bore hole. Where I also have a very coarse version that hogs out a much thicker chip. The cutting power is noticeable between the two bits, but not that great. I find the gears on the machine make a huge difference in fatigue of the operator. Specifically the Boss Double Eagle and on my home made gear reduced machine.
