This chain mortiser was purchased and used for one job. The job is complete and the mortiser is available at a great savings. We have built a custom box for shipping and storage. The mortiser was purchased for $3,185, it also comes with the 8mm chain/bar/sprocket for 1/4" plates ($1,615 original purchase price) and a Mafell SG 230 Slotting Guide Frame for Chain Mortiser (original cost of $1,582). With tax the total cost to buy new is just over $6,800. If interested, I can sell the chain mortise separate without the guide or chain/bar/socket package.
Description
The Mafell LS 103Ec is a truly impressive chain mortiser, featuring a powerful 120v motor, chain bars which do not require lubrication, and chrome-hardened chains for long life. This mortiser is available with 1.5" and 2.0" chain/bar set-ups to rapidly produce timber frame mortises with the sturdy FG150 mortise stand.
The tensioning system of the LS 103Ec allows for fast chain replacement. Even retightening the chain is quick and easy without having to remove the chain guard. The LS 103Ec can also cut narrow slots and horizontal grooves with the available SG230 and SG400 slotting stands and special chains from 1/4" to 13/16" wide.

The SG 230 is one of three options for the Chain Mortiser LS 103 for cutting slots in beams and glulam.
Channels for supply lines, slots in posts or for concealed beam joints: with the SG 230 you can cut slots in any timber up to a depth of 285 mm (11 1/4 in.).
With a weight of just 16.7 kg (36.8 lbs), you can even cut slots in fitted beams.
With this combination, the coordination of slot mortising attachment and chain mortiser enables you to make 100 % perfect size slots from beginning to end.
