I am interested in providing a deep stain finish for a timber structure. The wood speicifed is a Douglas Fir # 1, boxed heart wood. The timber members will receive a oil at the manufacturer plant (Harmany Exhange). My client is interested in staining the members to achieve a deep "red" appearance. Do you have any suggesting, procedures.

You might want to check into Landark aniline dye oil finishes. They will send you a sample of their stains and then you can go from there. See if you can find out what composition Harmony uses in their finish, Landark can let you know if it is compatible with their oil. We use their product exclusively and have never been disappointed. (Or our clients.)
