Have a fixed angle mortise drill with a crack in one of the cast iron uprights and would like to repair aesthetically and functionally. Looking for suggestions, sources of historical repair(?). Thanks

I have purchased several boring machines with what appear to be period repairs. In most cases the cast iron was repaired by brazing using brass. The damaged part was built up oversize with brass and then filed to shape. My son has used the same method to repair a boring machine and the results were quite satisfactory. The machine and repairs survived uasge on the Highland Fling project in Scotland.
