I am looking to convert a basic barn. I have seen all the partnerships with the SIPS guys but was wondering if one could just sheath the exterior walls inside and out with OSB then infill will blown in insulation? The electric would be easy and so would the interior finish. The barn is 36x60 so there is plenty of heavy beam exposure even with the exterior timber frame covered. The 8" beams will also allow for around R30 in the wall. It seems, by my math, to be a financial winner as well. Can somone confirm or tear apart this logic for me.
thanks,

Obviously I am new to this

would the OSB not need more support than just the timberframe?(as in the occaisional 2x to keep it from getting floppy?)

assuming there was a 2x8 on the floor between all exterior posts, you would nail at each post and across the beam and 2x8 (on the floor between the post). In the end, it would be a box beam. You would also cut and frame around windows with 2x8. However, the majority of the space would be open for insulation. You could really make use of long osb panels if this was sound.
