I cathedralizing a ceiling in an old house (1700). Some of the beams have insect damage (some are pretty bad)but are structurally sound.
The beams will be exposed. I treated them with Timbor to protect against powder beattles and I am now looking for a product that would solidify the exterior of the timbers that are soft. They are nice beams and I (and my client) would hate to have to scrub the surface away.
Any ideas on a product that would petrify the beams? I know that you can find in Europe a product that's injected into the beams, any thing like this in the US?

Tanks for all the responses I got on aging timbers. I am running some tests and will let you know
