Port Orford Cedar, I potential customer of mine is very concerned with the amount of checking and wants a finely finished timberframe. They say a few examples in Ted Benson newest (exceptional) book made out of Port Orford Cedar. Does anyone know anything about this Cedar and it's characteristics ? As well as a supplier.

quote from Benson web site.
"This fine Oregon-grown softwood is coveted by woodworkers the world over. Pale, with a very subtle grain, it looks best in the smaller timbers. Because of its innate stability, we most often use it to hold the glazing in sunspaces and for finish details.
Its workability belies its remarkable strength. Port Orford cedar – actually in the
cypress family – is fragrant. Its aroma adds dimension to the home, and a heady atmosphere to the shop when we're cutting it."
