I recently had a question from the owner of a 10+ year old timber frame home regarding a problem he is having with ants. Not an unheard of story. They can hear ants inside the sip walls (stick framed roof). Any suggestions on elliviating the problem? I assume that having pest control spray the foundatin would help some.

Hi Bob:
My understanding is that ants need a source of moisture to colonize in a size that has a decibel rating. Killing the colony will be a temporary fix but no cure. Look for the source of moisture, correct it and the ants will go. I would contact the sips folks directly at their site: www.sips.org
Good luck,
Curtis
