We are in the planning stage of our small Timber Frame home in western North Carolina. We would like to have recessed can lights in the ceiling (cathedral area) but understand that it may be prohibitive do to the thickness of the SIP roof panels. One alternative is to use track light but if it can be avoided, I am open to options. Is it possible to introduce I-Joist above the roof timber frame, omitting the SIPS in the roof and proceeding with traditional insulation/construction methods. Is it even worth my asking as we are on tight budget and would not want to get in any cost prohibitive wild ideas. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Best regards, York
