I have been contacted about the repair of a historical windmill in Water mill, NY.

I am interested in finding out what species of wood would be best. Specifically the hub that holds the blades needs to be remanufactured. It is about 16" in diameter and about 16' long. Rot seems to be the major concern.
Thanx, Dick Bird

I would suggest calling Ian Ellison (508-430-0407). He has worked on, and studies windmills in America. He may have the information you need, or be able to help you find it.
