I have a saunders inproved automatic boring machine by wells manufacturing co. Ashaway R.I. That being said, has anyone ever taken one apart? I would like to clean and service this machine. The only way I see is to drive out pins that are hammered after they were installed. Any information will help. Also one small part on the housing for the depth stop has been broken off in the past. It is not a problem with function in anyway. Any parts location information ????

thanks

Kevin,

I have never heard of that manufacturer! Can you send a picture file (.jpg) of it to rudad@aol.com? I would be interested in seeing what it looks like.

When I am forced to disassemble a boring machine for repair, I drill into the peened end of the pins so I can drive them out. Of course you then need a new one. Sometimes a 16d common nail works and is soft enough to peen. Just saw it a 1/32" longer than the distance across the boss.

Best bet is don't disassemble it unless you really have to!
