I wish to use traditional joinery techniques to join green floor joists to large section trimmer joists. I presume they are simple housing joints, does anyone have any onfo on this?

Can you give us an idea of the timber sizes?
are the trimmer joists green or an existing part of the frame? the type of joinery may depend on the ability of the trimmer joists to withstand removal of material to form joints, and / or any requirement to create restraint etc in the plane of the floor.

The trimmer joists is actually a spine beam which measures 200 x 250mm. It is green oak and will form a floor above.
