I have a two story post & beam barn with cedar board exterior. I'd like to find information on how to properly seal the exterior and insulate. Also, would like to finish the second floor with sheetrock and keep the beams exposed. Is there any reference materials available?

you could try building out from the existing walls with tar paper/vapour barrier , foam insulation and chipboard or plywood or strapping and wood siding
As far as interior sheetrock you would likely want to cut it in between the interior framing, unless you want to tear off the existing siding?

This method takes away some of your overhang at the eaves so you may also need to extend the roof a bit...

Hi - Just wondering if you moved forward with your barn project. I'm in Bethany, and have been researching doing the very same thing with a small barn attached to my house. Pics are here:

My intent is to build out with insulation and firring strips, than apply new cedar clapboards.
