So that makes more sense. That also helps a bit with some deeper beams, like 3-4" deeper than they are wide, as they tended to pass easily in bending while having a difficult time passing horizontal shear. So you would end up having to widen a beam which would kind of force you widen the posts that accept as well.
Jim, that 205 is for red oak right, but the #1 EWP(Beams and stringers) would be 125 right?
