A client would like wooden stair treads on a metal stairs coming down from upper deck. My sawyer has recommended Hemlock as a good
local choice. The treads will be tapered from 7 to 14 inches wide, 42 inches long and 2 inches thick heart free.
The hemlock will be supplied green so do they need to be dried first or can they be installed green? Also does Hemlock tend to
split when air drying at 2 inches thick.
I have no experience with this wood.
Thanks folks.
