Hello!

I am a new member of TFG, and I am interested in doing the apprenticeship program sometime in the next few years. I dream of someday owning my own small timber framing company and I think the apprenticeship curriculum is exactly what I need to make that a reality.

I already tried the university route, and have degrees in both structural engineering and wood science. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I'll ever learn as much though universities as I would from a master timber framer and a more hands-on experience. In fact, I'm actually a little frustrated with how little I've learned about the trade.

My problem is that my significant other has conveniently accepted an engineering job in Salt Lake City, and there doesn't seem to be any journeyworkers in the state of Utah (or not according to the map anyway). If anyone knows of a timber framer in Utah who might be interested in becoming a journeyworker, please let me know! I'll ask around and see if I can't find someone as well.

Thanks for the help!
-Kate

PS: If only I still lived in Fort Collins...
