Jim, what is it specifically that knocks the boring machine bits out of use in an electric drill? I have used boring machine bits in an electric drill. The biggest issue I have seen is the chance of the bit slipping in the chuck, but not a big issue.

Due to the fact that these bits are designed to turn at a very slow rpm we don't recommend using them in a power drill. The torque when the grab is huge and can twist the drill right out of your hands.
I will sell any bit to anyone but beware that this can happen and it won't be pretty when it does. Especially with a 2" bit.
