I'm interested in the New England Barn foremost. I know of some of Jack Sobon's
self-published work on the Dutch Barn.
I'm most interested in Common Rafter systems
with continuous top plates and intermediate
continuous purlins, and how the old frames
dealt with thrust in the roof system.

Also, are there many frames which were build
with the 2nd floor as we would now (with all
the tie beams, summers, and joists in the same plane ? How did they detail those joints?

Thanks, and this is a great forum. By the way, is it meant to supercede the TFG wwwBB
within the members section? This forum
certainly seems to be getting more input.
