Thanks for reading. My father wants to replace the granite stone foundation of his 3 story post and beam barn with concrete. He wants to dig some trenches and slide steel beams under it and jack it up. There is a 6' foundation under the barn. He can't get the beams under the corners though because there are large granite boulders at most corners. I've thought of bolting posts to the outside corners and jacking it up under those.
Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated. Since he's a farmer he wants to do it in January when he's not working, any problems with January Maine weather (structuraly)?

My feelings on doing this to an historic structure aside. I've seen far to many problems with winter poured concrete and would strongly urge waiting until the temperatures can be counted on to stay consistantly above freezing before pouring.
